Radiodetection RD8200 Precision Locator
Radiodetection RD8200 Cable and Pipe Locator
The Radiodetection RD8200 Cable and Pipe Locator is an adaptable, no compromise all-industry locator which provides fast, precise and repeatable measurements. A high-quality member of the Radiodetection RD Locator range, the RD2800 is designed for accurate and reliable every day use in challenging environments thanks to its easy setup and effective ergonomic build. Suitable for a wide variety of tasks, use this locator for such jobs as:
Accurate power cable identification
Sonde locating for water, waste water and gas pipes
Use of higher frequencies for high impedance, sheathed telecom lines
Long distance tracing of buried utilities and pipelines
Advanced Performance
For those difficult to find utilities, be they deeply buried or hidden within a dense network, the state of the art Digital Signal Processing technology contained within the RD8200 locator creates reliable results both quickly and consistently. This enables technicians to detect & react to weak signals, no matter the situation.
Advanced features within the locator serve to bolster it's functionality, for example the on-screen TruDepth and current readout provides the user with extra assurance of errorless operation. TruDepth offers precise depth and current measurements when the RD8200 is correctly positioned, consistently ensuring the operator that the correct line is being followed. As does the Current Direction (CD) feature, which once a target has been identified applies a specialised CD signal from a Tx-10 transmitter to produce directional arrows. A 4kHz locate frequency can be created which when combined with the CD signal improves trace accuracy over long distances, ideal for telecoms and street lighting.
When conditions prohibit the use of a transmitter, the Radiodetection RD8200 continues to work where other locators can't. Conflicting or powerful signals can create a wash of signals, making it incredibly difficult to locate the correct utility. The RD2800 can use the harmonic properties of power signals to establish if a signal comes from one source, or from multiple cables which the user can then trace and mark. In addition, the SideStep and Dynamic Overload Protection features filter out interference, this is especially useful in areas such as near substations, overhead power lines or in areas prone to interference where perhaps more than one operator is working.
Peak+ Mode adds the benefits of Guidance and Null locating to the RD8200 Cable and Pipe Locator. Where Guidance gets you to the peak position quicker by using proportional arrows and a directional indicator, Null allows you to check for any distortion created by other utilities, spurs or interference. The included Sonde Mode is for locating non-conductive cables ducts, pipes or conduits at depths up to 15m (50") deep.
With 21 active frequencies, 5 custom frequencies, 4 sonde frequencies and 4 passive modes the RD2800 is a true multi-industry tool. The active modes include Broad Peak (single antenna mode) while the passive modes include CATV Passive Avoidance. Increasing the connectivity of the locator, Bluetooth low energy, iLoc (Rx control of transmitter) and survey measurement capabilities are all built-in.
Suitable for Multiple Industries
Boasting utility specific frequencies and multi-function features, the Radiodetection RD8200 is an ideal instrument for a vast array of industries.
Construction - The rugged casing and high contrast screen are more than capable of standing up to the harshest on-site weather conditions, while the twenty-one active and three four frequencies included will cover the vast majority of site locating tasks.
Power - Whilst Power Filters can be used to trace a single target line amongst multiple cables, the built-in Dynamic Overload Protection reduces the effects of interference.
Telecom - The higher frequencies of the RD8200 can be used to locate high impedance lines and sonde frequencies, ideal for duct and conduit tracing. Higher frequencies are available for tracing sheathed domestic cables without grounding connections. Any cable sheath faults can be tracked down by utilising a 4kHz frequency.
Water and Pipeline - The four sonde frequencies are exceptional at quickly locating and tracing pipes made from a variety of materials such as cast iron, clay, fibre, concrete and brick, these pipes can be traced over extremely long distances. Any pipes featuring Cathodic Protection System can be followed using the CPS passive mode, with the CPS compass mode guaranteeing alignment with the target pipeline.
Safety is Priority
The Radiodetection RD8200 Cable and Pipe Locator boasts a lightweight and ergonomic design which actively encourages correct handling. Built around the needs of the operator, not only does this improve detection but the design is so outstandingly well-balanced and comfortable that the locator remains comfortable even during extended periods of use. An intuitive Swing Warning System uses a gyroscopic measurement system to ensure the device is kept perpendicular to the ground. Not only does this create the highest accuracy possible, it corrects user posture and reduces the risk of strains or injury.
While concentrating on the task at hand, it can be easy for a user to miss something crucial. Never overlook a warning again thanks the the RD2800's vibrating handle. Or indeed the visual and audible warnings also produced by the included StrikeAlert safety feature. Should there be shallow cables in the vicinity, this handy addition will alert the user and help avoid any unnecessary utility damages or potentially disastrous injuries.
Premium Ergonomic Design
Featuring transflective low power LCD technology, RD8200 locators utilise the ambient light to improve screen readability in direct sun light and even extend battery life. The waterproof speaker housing provides optimum resonance for high or low frequency tone and five levels of sound designed to be heard even in noisy environments. Compass orientation and a high visibility reflective design helps protect both operators and equipment, with the IP65 rated casing shock resistant and protected agains dust or water ingress. Five custom manufactured, precision ground antennas deliver accuracy and repeatability with the Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery pack offering extended runtime with reduced running costs.
Operate with confidence on site due to the RD8200 Cable and Pipe Locator's self-test which applies signals to locating circuitry as well as checking display and power functions. Subjected to rigorous testing before leaving the factory, the RD8200 is supported by a 3 year warranty.
